¡Buenos Días Madrid!

A sweltering Saturday greets Madrid as the mercury pushes towards 37°C and the Aemet yellow alert stretches across the afternoon. But the heat is not the only force shaping the capital this weekend. Ten thousand Bad Bunny fans pour into the Riyadh Air Metropolitano each night, hotels fill to the brim, and the first signs of Pope León XIV's visit begin to reshape traffic around the Castellana axis. Spring in Madrid has never been louder — or busier.

Bad Bunny y León XIV: Madrid se Prepara para un Doble Terremoto Turístico

Madrid is bracing for one of its biggest tourism weekends of the year. Bad Bunny begins a run of ten concerts at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, with BlaBlaCar reporting 16,000 ride-share journeys expected into the Community of Madrid — a 30% increase year-on-year. Train travel to the capital has surged up to 138% from cities like Albacete, while hotel rates hover above €300 per night. Meanwhile, preparations for Pope León XIV's visit (6–9 June) have triggered extensive traffic restrictions along Paseo de la Castellana, Recoletos, and Prado, with Plaza de Lima already closed in both directions. The Ayuntamiento recommends public transport for all movements across the city centre and the northern axis.

Guerra de Banqueros en la Carrera por la Presidencia del Real Madrid

The battle for the Real Madrid presidency between Florentino Pérez and challenger Enrique Riquelme has escalated into a full-blown financial war. After Santander and BBVA denied Riquelme the necessary bank guarantee, he secured it in extremis from ScotiaBank and Andbank. Pérez has publicly questioned a reported high-interest loan linked to Riquelme's acquisition of Iberdrola México, while Riquelme accuses the president's inner circle of orchestrating a smear campaign. With elections set for 7 June — the same day Pope León XIV arrives in Madrid — the race to lead the world's most followed football club has drawn international attention from Bloomberg and the financial press.

30 de Mayo de 1824: Goya Recibe Permiso para Emigrar a Francia

On this day in 1824, Francisco de Goya — then 78 years old and living in fear of the absolutist restoration under Ferdinand VII — received official permission to leave Spain for France. The Aragonese painter, whose brush immortalised the Dos de Mayo uprising and its bloody reprisals, settled in Bordeaux, where he would spend his final years producing some of his most intimate and experimental works. His legacy remains inseparable from Madrid: the Prado Museum houses his most famous canvases, and his presence still haunts the streets of the Barrio de las Letras where he once lived and worked.
